My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The lead heroine was very disappointing, her twin sister was more interesting. Maeva’s family was sent to the gallows. After she watched each of her family members meet their fate at the gallows, someone pulls her away for her safety and it is none other than the Butcher of Beaumont. Maeve and Christian’s relationship is not the easiest and the Cardinal’s desire to take her doesn’t make it easier. What I did not like about Maeve, she was weak when it came to men. Christian, her husband, Rumi, Sebastian, childhood crush, and Ramsey, her rescuer/kidnapper. She was very quick to forget her love for Christian. She did not deserve him.
The oldest sister Elizabeth-Ann is selfish and self-centered.
